STOCK MARKET.
Rose, Limited, report having held the following sales during the past fortnight:— November, 9th, Dannevirke horse sale: Some fine lines of young light draughts came forward, most of which changed hands at prices up to £42 10s. There was not a great demand for light horses. November 19th, stock sale: This was our first sale this season at Weber, and most of the farmers being busy shearing there was not a large entry of stock, nor was the sale well Protected; but we managed to clear amities with the exception of horses at ruling rates. November 20th, Mr A. Svensen's clearing sale, Norsewood: This sale was a great success; it was well attended, and bidding right _ through was very spirited. The dairy herd averaged a trifle over £6 per head. Young stock, pigs, etc., all found ready buyers at market value. November 22nd, Dannevirke stock sale: We had a big yarding of cattle and a moderate one of sheep, and although the bidding was not at all brisk we managed (with the exception of a line of ewes and lambs), to clear the yards at the following prices:—Slieep: Fat ewes and wethers (shorn) 15s to 15s 4d, ewes and lambs 17s fid to 225. Cattle: 3to 4-year-old bullocks £5 to £5 10s, 3-year-old steers £4 15s, 2 to 2J-year-old steers £2 19s 6d to £3 10s, 18 to 21-month steers £2 15s, mixed yearlings 24s to 275, fat cows £4 10s to £5, dairy cows £2 to £5, heifers £2 15s to £3 10s. No pigs were entered. November 23rd, Dannevirke horse sale: We had an entry of over 80 horses, the majority being light shacks and harness horses. There wa= a larger demand for them than there was for draughts. With private sales held afterwards we are able to report a good sale at prices rather in favour of buyers.
