THE STEAMER MAORI.
ANOTHER FAST PASSAGE. BY TKIiEGKAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, November 21. The Union Company's new turbine steamer Maori gave another display of her steaming qualities last night on her second trip from Lytteltou to Wellington. The chief engineer states that the trip last night was accomplished in 9hrs 25min. The steamer throughout maintained an average speed of 18.59 knots. Her previous night's record of Shrs 50min from Wellington heads to Lyttcilon heads was also reduced last night by 6min.
TRAMWAY EMPLOYEES IN TROUBLE.
CHARGE OF ASSAULT.
AUCKLAND, November 22,
Three tramway employees, named Donovan, Kirkwood, and Farnelly, were charged at the Police Court, today, with assaulting a fellow employee, named" Wilber Ward, who had given evidence against a conductor charged with theft. The accused were committed for trial by Mr Kettle, S.M.,who said that there was gross perjury on one side or the other.

CONSTABLES IN SEARCH,
DUNEDIN, November 22.
Lionel Terry escaped through a window at Seacliff Asylum. Four constables have left Dunedin to search for him northwards.
.DEATH BY POISON
WANGANUI, November 22.
Mrs Alice Hodgson, w'fe of a resident of Hunterville, who was brought into a private hospital here about a week ago, was found in an unconscious condition locked in a bathrcom last evening, having, it is stated, taken a dose of the disinfectant Lysol. Medical aid was summoned, but efforts to counteract the poison were unavailing, and she died an hour afterwards.
