TURF NOTES.
(By Zetland). The Wairarapa horses engaged at the Feilding meeting are Gawain, Rillemaid, Sen Sim, Royal Blue, Elevation, Mataari, Sandix, Moloch, Dulcinea and Sharkeyn. All these are well forward in the matter of racing condition, and should run creditably in their engagements.
Letherin went sore at the Taralahi meeting owing to the hardness of the racing track on the first day, and is not now among the workers at Opaki.
Reveille and Scotch Reel have been added to Arthur Lord's Woodville team. This trainer now has a fairnumber of hoi'ses in work, and as class is well represented his charges should score a share of important wins during the season. The Stepniak-Britomarc filly, purchased by Wi Hutana, at Christchurch, this month, will probably carry her owner's colours \x\ public about next autumn.
It is understood that the Wairarapa Racing Club will instal an up-to-date totalisator in time for use at the New Year meeting. What are now generally known as the "silent" machines are* rapidly growing in favour, and by next season will be adopted by practically all the progressive clubs throughout the dominion.
The weights for the Auckland Cup and Railway Handicap were published this week. They bear evidence of careful consideration on the part of the handicapper, and should be followed by satisfactory acceptances. Master Delaval, 9.4, heads the list. This is 91b more than he was asked to carry in the New Zealand Cup, in which race he finished second. Although the son of Seaton Delaval is sure to rule favourite it is more than likely that he will be beaten by one of the seven stone division. Zimmerman, 8.4, has yet to prove that he can get two miles, while Paritutu, although nicely treated at 7.13, is not improving. Uranium at the same weight ' is well spoken of, and is showing fair form this season. Armistice, 7.12, is a stayer, and consequently has an undoubted chance, while Mahutaat the same assessment will take beating if dressed in his best on the day. Apa, 7.10, would be more at home over a mile and a-half, as also would Sir Tristram and Gold Crest. Bonny Glen, 7.8, ran like a stayer at the Canterbury meeting, and may have to be reckoned with. Of those lower down in the weights Downfall, 7.G, Scotty, 7.0, Probable and Uenuku, G.H, read the best. There are no less than 45 entrants for the Railway Handicap, and it will be time enough after the acceptances to go into the chances of those most likely to take part in the race. Munjeet, 9.5, Gold Crest and Cambrian, 8.11, Count Witte, 8.6, Muskerry, 7.11, Bobvikoff, 7.4, Celerity and Eona, 7.1, are favourably treated. The second Feilding Stakes., to be run next week, should be' one of the bes*i races of the season. The very best sprinters of the country will measure strides over live furlongs, and great excitement will rule over the event. The race being a weight-for-age one, the well-performed two-' year-olds such as Armlet and Fleet'foot have considerably the best of the weights, but brilliant candidates like Lord Soult, Munjeet, Elevation and Finery will prove capable of making the race a very fast one. Be-
sides those mentioned the acceptors include Bunyan, winner of the Wanganui Guineas, Aborigine, a winner at Hawke's Bay and Wellington, Loftus, who scored this month "at Auckland, Sweet Angelus, winner of the Juvenile Stakes at Riccarton, and other highly-bred performers.
