DEATH OF MR VON KEISENBERG.
Sincere regret was felt in Masterton, yesterday, especially among that section of the community interested in musical matters, when if became known that Mr A. E. von Keisenberg, the well-known instructor of music, had died about 11.30 a.m., at his residence in Church Street. For some years past Mr Keisenberg had suffered frum indifferent health, but it was not until about a fortnight ago that the intricate internal troubles which eventually caused his death, set in. The deceased was born in Stxony (Germany) in 1857, and received his education at the Civil College, Darmstadt, where he studied music under the wel". - known master, Herr Schmidt. He served for four years as a lieutenant in the German army, and then visited England. Subsequently he sailed for New Zealand in the ship "Enterpe," and landed at Lyttelton, where he followed up the musical profession for some time. He came to Masterton in 1881, and has lived here since. During his long residence in Masterton Mr Keisenberg has been noted for his musical abilities. He always took a keen interest in musical matters in the town. He was the conductor of the first operatic society in Masterton, and was teaching a large number of pupils up to within a short time of his death. In addition the deceased was the local honorary representative of the Trinity College, and for many years was organist in the local Masonic lodge. A widow, three sons and two daughters are left to mourn their loss, and they will have the sympathy of a larg9 number of friends in their bereavement. The funeral will take place at 2.30 p.m. to-morrow.
