AUSTRALIAN NEWS.

QUEENSLAND POLITICS. NEW CABINET FORMED. Received November 19, 10.10 a.m. BRISBANE, November 19. Mr Philp informed the Governor late last night that he had succeeded in forming a Cabinet. The names will be announced to the House to-day. PHILP MINISTRY DEFEATED. Received November 19, 5.20 p.m. BRISBANE, November 19. The Philp Ministry, which was only announced to-day, has been defeated by 37 votes to 28. Received November 20, 12.52 a.m. BRISBANE, November 19. Mr Philp, after announcing his Ministry, explained that he intended to ask the House to pass the estimates, and then close the session. If the House were not prepared to go on with the business they must take the consequence. Mr Kidston moved that the chairman leave the chair, and explained that he had told the House that he could not go on because of obstruction from the council. That obstruction would have to be dealt with. He declared that attempts had been made to bribe members of his side to support the Government, but had failed. He added that members had been threatened for standing to their duty. Mr Philp explained that he had not attempted to get Mr Kidston's supporters to join him till Mr Kidston resigned; then he did it. The motion was then carried and the House adjourned.
