PERSONAL.
Mr J. A. Gilruth, Clfief Government Veterinarian, paid a visit to Masterton, yesterday, and made an inspection of the borough abattoir. Mr and Mrs C. E. Daniell, of Masiterton, are expected to arrive in Wellington to-day by the Wimmera ;from their trip to England. The Misses Daniell left Masterton, yesterday afternoon, for Wellington to meet their parents. Mr F. Aldershaw, who has resided in Pahiatua for the past seventeen years, is on a holiday visit to Blenheim, after jg&. absence of twenty ;years. The death occurred, on Monday :last, from measles, of the 2J-year- ■ old son of Mr T. Carter, baker, of Pahiatua. The family will have the sympathy of a large circle of friends •in their bereavement. Mr P. J. White, of Wellington, iwill succeed Mr P. H. Passau, who has been transferred to Waitara, as teller at the Eketahuna branch of tha :Bank of New Zealand. On Saturday last the members of the Eketahuna Tennis Club presented Mr Pnssiu with a handsome travelling bag as a mark of esteem.
Mr H. Dudding has been appointed s jcretary to the newly-formed Ahikouka River Board. Mr H. Waite, of Morison's Bush, is seriously ill, and but faint hopes ave entertained for his recovery. Mr W. F. Massey, Leader of the Opposition, received word on Monday of the death of his father-in-law, Mr Walter Paul, of Mangere, Auckland, a very old settler. Mr Massey receivei the news too late to attend the funeral.
