CARTERTON.

From Our Own Correspondent. Thursday. At the Magistrate's Court, this afternoon, a man named Charles Gurote, alias Bismark, was charged before Messrs Jas. Brown and W. J. Lindop, J's.P., with the theft of three Jbags of chaff and one bag of oats, valued at 30s. The accused was fined £l, and was ordered to pay 30s, the price of the articles stolen. An enjoyable time was spent by bowlers on the local green this afternoon. The green was in good order, and some interesting games were played. The Saturday Cricket Club engaged in a good practice on Carrington Park this afternoon. Mr W. Moore presided at a meeting of the Library Committee, held last night. It was reported that two subscribers had joined during the month.
