ARBITRATION COURT.
TIMBER WORKERS' AND BUTCHERS' DISPUTES. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, November 13. The Arbitration Court, to-day, proceeded to deal with the dispute between the employers and the Wellington timber yard and sawmills workers. Considerable discussion took place regarding the method of procedure. His Honour Mr Justice Sim asid that the Wairarapa employers wished to be heard at Palmerston North. Mr Reardon, for the workers, said the Court's ruling yesterday, in the plasterers' dispute opened up an important point. The workers had been assured that the Court would sit at Napier, Palmerston North, Dannevirke and Wanganui, and had arranged to take witnesses for the country districts at Wanganui and Dannevirke. His Honour wanted to know what facts, not opinions, such witnesses would supply. It was decided to proceed with the hearing of the case, taking evidence at Wellington, Palmerston North and Napier. Consideration of the dispute was then m*oceeded with. Mr* Grenfell said that employers could not accept the Conciliation Board's recommendations in some respects. Evidence was taken on both sides, and the case was adjourned for evidence to be taken at Napier and Palmerston North. The butchers' dispute will be opened here to-morrow, evidence being afterwards taken at Palmerston North and Napier.
