The Pall Mall Gazette says: "We are glad that Mr Deakin is alive to the need for encouraging the development of Australia's latent resources. The Commonwealth must show a readiness equalling that of Canada to assist emigrants. If she fails, there will come a time when the doors will be forced, probably by a race less welcome than uurs."
