It lies in the centra of a most prolific land district, equal to that of Bav/ke's Bay, and with farther settlement the place must become a hive of industry. Already the town boasts a boot manufactory; while two cheese factories have been established theie within the past few months. I hero are reeular stock sales, several banking institutions, and many handsome business places.

Railway Communication. Martinborough is just now twelve miles from the railway line, but its trade is advancing at such a rapid rate that there has already been talk of railway communication. The residents are so confident on the subject that they have offered to construct the line at their own expense, and to hand the whole thing to the Government, and accept 3 per cent, for the money invested.
