POLITICS IN NEW YORK.

J COUNTY ELECTIONS. HEARST'S PROSPECTS FOR PRESIDENCY EXTINGUISHED. Received November 7, 9.30 p.m. NEW YORK, November 7. Hearst's prospects for the presidency of the United States are considered to be extinguished. Kentucky and New Jersey State have gone over to the Republicans, though New Jersey City remains Democratic. The Mormon mayor of Salt Lake City was defeated by a religious opponent.
