STOCK MARKET.

Messrs Dalgety and Co. report-on yesterday's stock sale at the Waipoua yards, M Jferton, as follows:—Only three liufa of sheep comprised of ewes,lambs and hoggets, were yarded. Full-mouth ewes, with 100 per cent, of lambs, were passed at 22s 6d; hoggets sold at from 15s 9d to 23s 6d for a very fine line of 100 heavy woolled sheep. Cattle were yarded in fair numbers, and met with a ready sale, buyers being keener in this direction than they have been for some time. We cleared out full yarding at the following range of prices:—Yearlings from 33s for heifers to 45s for steers, 2 year heifers, empty to £2; 2 year steers £3 10s 6d; milch cows to £3. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., renort as follows on their Pahiatua'sale on Tuesday:—A fair yarding of sheep came forward, which sold at a decided advance on recent rates, competition being very keen more especially for dry sheep. In cattle we submitted a large yarding, including several pens of good quality steers. Competition for all classes was very brisk, practically the whole yarding being sold under the hammer. We quote:— Sheep: F m. ewes with small percentage of lambs 18s sd, 17s lid, medium hoggets 15s to 16s, dry ewes 16s 3d. Cattle: Three-year bullocks £5 Is to £5 7s 6d, 2-year steers £3 3s 6d to £3 13s 6d, empty cows £2 9s to £2 12s, yearling to 20 months heifers 35s' 20 months steers £2, fat bullocks £9, fat cows £5 to £5 10s, aged bull £2. The .New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report as*i'ollows:-At Pahiatua, on Tuesday, sheep entries were confined to medium hoggets, all of which sold at fair value.. In cattle we had a full yarding of all classes. Bidding ( was keen throughout, a clearance be- j ing effected at rates in advance of previous sales. Hoggets 15s to 16s 3d, 3 year steers £5 ss, 21 year £4 ' 12s 6d, 2 years 70s to 80s, 18 months ' 555, yearling steers 455, heifers 255, • 2 yea\- heifers 425, cows 30s to 40s, j daiiy cows and. heifers 50s to 60s. At . Ma?fr?rton, on Wednesday, sheep entries were disappointing, only empty ewes being penned, these making . 15s 9d. In cattle we penned upward of 500 head, which included every class with a few pens of ox, cow and heifer beefs. We had buyers from Palmerston North, Pahiatua and South Wairarapa, and the quality of the stock beirg fairly good throughout, we had little difficulty in selling the whole catalogue at good sound rates, resuming in a very satisfactory sale. Best fat bullocks made £8 10s, others £7 10s, light fat heifers £4 19s, fat cows £5 to £5 ss, forward 4 year bullocks £7, good 3 year olds £5 to £5 Bs, best 2 .year olds £4 7s 6d, others £4, 18 to 20 months steers £2 17s 6d, yearlings 35s to 425, Shorthorn heifers 2yrs £2 16s, yearling heifers 25s to 30s, breeding cows 35s to 51s, dairy cows and heifers 50s to 60s, Shorthorn bulls £3 to £B. Good weaner pigs 17s.
