CARTERTON.
From Our Own Correspondent. Wednesday. The annual meeting of the Wairarapa Poultry, Pigeon, and Cage Bird Association was held, to-day. There was a fair attendance of members. Mr H. McPhee, president, occupied the chair. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr H. R. Bunny; President, Mr E. Eagle, junr.; Vice-Presidents, Messrs Q. Donald, J. M. Lightfoot, W. B. Allen, C. Reid, D. Reid, R. J. Chapman ; Treasurer, Mr J. M. Lightfoot; Secretary. Mr W. Toomath; Committee, Messrs F. J. Dillon, A. L. Webster, W. Hawke, J. E. Blade, T. W. Barnes, H. McPhee, H. Deller, J. Thomasen, J. Standen, T. H. Hughes, W. G. Broad, W. Tucker, H. S. Moss, F. Sunkel, W. Fisher and A. J. Fisher. The retiring secretary, Mr H. S. Moss, was voted a bonus.of £5 for past services. The matter of framing by-laws fur the association was left in the hands of the incoming committee. Mr R. J. Chapman was elected auditor. The fortnightly meeting of the Methodist Christian Endeavour Society was held in the church last evening. There was a good attendance of members, and the Kev. W. J. Elliott presided. An interesting paper on "What the Bible says about bands" was read by MrT. W. Foster. Two friends were proposed for membership. . Mr E. Eagle, junr., of Belvedere, has entered the Wellington Hospital to undergo an operation tor an internal complaint.
