VOLCANO ERUPTION AT SAVAII.

LARGEST IN THE WORLD. NEW ISLAND RISING. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, November 6. News brought by the-Atua to-day states that the volcano on the Island of Savaii, in the Samoan group, has become much enlarged and is now stated to be the most extensive active eruption in the world. The outflow of lava is tremendous and is daily increasing, and many of the residents of Savaii have left the island, considering it unsafe to remain there any longer. A new island is said to be rising off the east fcoast end of Savaii, and probably a new crater will be developed in the sea. Steam clouds from the volcano, thousands of feet high, are every-day sights.
