McArdle, M.L.C., was mar- .. ried to Miss Agnes Girdwood, second 5 daughter of Mr T.'P.' Girdwood, of . Mangamahoe. The bride was given away by her father. c After the ceremony the newly-wedded couple were driven to Palmerston North in a brougham which was drawn by four grays. The honeymoon is to be spent at Rotorua. Guard Alten, who has been lying the Wellington Hospital for, son:&■ weeks seriously ill, is now making slow progress towards recovery. Miss Caselberg will leave Masterton, this week, en route for Johannesburg, South Africa, where she joins her sister, Mrs Harris. Miss Caselberg will sail from Wellington on Friday by the Wimmera, connecting at Sydney with the s.s. Commonwealth for South Africa. A Press Association'telegram from Wellington states that news has been received by cable from Sydney of the death of Mr James Linton, formerly a director and one of the promoters, of the Wellington and Manawatu. Railway Company. At St. Patrick's Church, yesterday morning, Mr Jas. Fouhy, of the Railway Department, was married to Miss Bridget Keary. Mr M. O'Neill gave the bride away, and Mr Peter Burns was best man. The bridesmaid was Miss Mary Keary, sister of the bride. After the ceremony, which was performed by the Rev. Dean McKenna, a reception was held at ' the future residence of the newlywedded couple, in Villa Street. Mr and Mrs Fouhy left by the mail train for Napier, where the honeymoon will be spent. The Rev. Dean McKenna has acquired a long lease? of a native reserve of 500 acres hear Eketahuna, on behalf of his brother, who is at present in Australia, and intends to settle with his family in this country. A large number of members and ex-members of the Star Cricket Club > gathered at the Club Hotel, yesterday aftenoon, to make a presentation to their club-mate, Mr H. Egan, who is to be'married to-day. In presenting Mr Egan with a handsome set of silver carvers Mr C. J. McKellar refered to the splendid services Mr Egan had rendered his club and the esteem in which he was held by the members. Messrs J. Bradbury and V. G. Darroch made reference to Mr Egan's popularity among cricketers generally. Ihe recipient suitably acknowledged the gift.
