•THE "THUNDERER" IS SARCASTIC. Received November 5, J0.3 p.m. LONDON, November 5. The Times describes the Commonwealth's experiment in tariff protection for manufacturers and workmen as equally and adventurous. It sees the Labour party behind the proposed Excise Board, and also expatiates on the assumed all-wise omiscient State and the assumed human perfectibility of the entire Australian community so mentally disciplined and morally chastened as to cheerfully accept an earthly providence.
