WELLINGTON LAND BOARD

The following was amongst the business transacted at the monthly meeting of the Wellington- Land Board: S. Hunt and W. S. Gilbert applied to be allowed to select portions of sections 44 and 45, block 12, Mount Cerberus, without competition. It was resolved that there was no power to grant the request as the applicants do not adjoin the land. W. Hislop applied to lease sections 34 and 38, block 8, and 45, block 9, Makuri township. It was resolved to approve of his leasing from year to year on the usual conditions. A report was received from the Crown lands ranger on sections 3, 4 and 5; block 5, Maungakaretu, and it was resolved to approve the prices being fixed at £3 5s per acre for section 3, and £3 for sections 4 and 5, and offer them under part 3 of the Land Act, 1892. It was resolved to again offer section 7, block 6, under improved farm conditions at £3 per acre. It was resolved to allot to H. Waterman section 13, block 3, Mount Cerberus, in terms of section 114 of the Act of 1892, at a valuation of £3 per acre, and to recommend the reservation of section 14 for scenic purposes. It was resolved to ask the Commissioner of Police to authorise the constable at Pongaroa to impound all stock trespassing on unsold sections and reserves in the township. The Board had no power to grant R. Goodin's application to lease section 1.1 a., block 1, Mangaone (gravel reserve).
