• Messrs Dalgety and Co., T,td., report on their Pahiatua sale, held on Tuesday, 29th inst., as follow*: There was a fair yarding of sheep and cattle. Sheep sold at late rates. 1 There was a rise in the price of steers. .We quote:—Fat ewes 22s 3d, ewes with lambs at foot 245, store ewes 16s 9d, 3-year steers to £5 10s, calving cows to £4 10s, poor store cows to 36s 6d. Messrs Abraham and Wililams, report on their Masterton stock nelc * yesterday, as follows: — 3rae yarding of stock in both sheep and cattle was in excess of advertised numbers. In sheep some extra quality ewes and wethers were offered, and for an extra prime line of shorn ewes offered on account of Mr A. P. Whatman, of Abbotsford, the very satisfactory price of 18s was realised. Bidding, for store sheep was in and out, vendors' ideas of values being in most cases in excess of what buyers were prepared to give. A satisfactory clearance was, however, made. In cattle the demand was not brisk. Most lines, however,, found purchasers before the end of the day. We quote:— Sheep—Extra prime fat shorn ewes 18s, fat ewes in the wool 22s to 23s 6d, forward empty ewes 16s to 17s Bd, ewes and lambs 20s 5d to 24?, fat wethers 255, hoggets 16s 6d to 17>, 4d. Cattle Forward empty hiifer3 £2 10s to £3 7s 6d, springing heifers £3 5s to £4, forward empty cows £3 to £3 7s 6d, cows in calf £3 2s 63 to £4 3s, weaners 21s Gd to 295. Pigs—Porkers 28s, stores 16s 6d, • weaners 10s to 10s 6d. Our Masterton sale, on November 13th next, will be the annual spring cattle sale, and in order to ensure entries being well advertised, clients are requested to forward particulars at once.
