Among other training work done this morning, Master Foote, Eft, and Bon Grafton ran a mile and ahalf in 2min 52sec. Mazarin covered ten furlongs in 2min 17sec, Mountain King a mile in lmin 45Jsec, True Scot a mile in lmin 52scc, Sarrenjoey 6 furlongs in lmin 23sec, Tartan and Mooltan ten furlongs in 2min 15J33C, Saraband a mile in lmin 49fcsec, Taugaroa a mile and a-half in 2min 51sec, Melodrama and Comely ten furlongs in 2min 20Jsec, Knox ten furlongs in 2min 19sec,Peru and Sivori ten furlongs in 2mm 16Jsec, and Lady Diffidence a mile and a-half in 2min 41sec. RICCARTON NOTES. By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, October 29. The Riccarton gallops were interesting this morning. Gienculloch, who has apparently recovered from the accident, did two. circuits at three-quarter speed. Sister Anne beat Guidwife by eight lengths over six furlongs. Lapland and Outlander did a mile and a half in 2min 42 2-ssec, and Paritutu, Elevation, Mahuta, and Astrakhan a mile and a half in 2min Elevation finished best, but Paritutu nearly as good. Mahuta is apparently going off. Buccleugh, who has struck himself, ran ten furlongs at restricted speed. Idealist went six furlongs, easing up, in lmin 17 l-ssec. The gallop was a pleasing one. Master Delaval, Zimmerman, and Probable did a mile and a half in 2min 41 4-ssec, and finished abreast, but Master Delaval was going much the be*t, and could easily have beaten the others, whose display was not impressive. St. Joe, Apa, and Frisco ran a mile in 2min 12 2-ssec, St. Joe beating Apa by a neck in a creditable performance. Gazeley, Armis • tice, Maniapoto, Grand Slam, and Koran went a mile and a half in 2min 42 3-ssec. Gazeley, full of running, finished two lengths in front of Grand Slam, Koran being next, and Helen Portland last, under a strong pull. Gazeley's performance was very pleasing. Bonny Glen only walked, and shows signs of soreness. There was nothing exceptional in the two-year-old work. Red Gauntlet ran five furlongs in lmin 4 2-ssec. TARATAHI-CARTERTON ACCEPTANCES. Acceptances for the first day's races, and entries for the Trial Plate and Maiden Scurry will close with the secretary, Mr J. B. Bairstow, Carterton, *,t 9 p m. on Friday, October 31st. MARLBOROUGH NOMINATIONS. Nominations for all events at the Marlborough Racing Club's spring meeting, to be held on Thursday and Friday, November 21st and 22nd, will close with the secretary, Mr C. J. W. Griffiths, Blenheim, at 9 o'clock on Saturday next, November Ist. ASHIIURST-POHANGINA RACING CLUB. The programme of the annual race meeting of the Ashhurst-Pohangina Racing Club, which appears in this issue, is a decidedly attractive one, and snould be fully appreciated by owners. The stakes for the one day's r icing total £1,405, which sumjhas been apportioned with a liberality that is highly creditable to the club's stewards. Of the open races, the Ashhurst Cup, 500 sovs, is the chief event. The Pohangina Handicap receives 200 sovs, and a new open event, the Dominion Handicap, is also awarded 200 sovs. The Ashhurst Guineas, the club's classical event, closed with thirty nominations. The hack division is especially well provided for. as no event is of less value than 100 sovs, second and third money being given in every case to the value of 20 sovs and 10 sovs respectively. The nomination and acceptance fees are framed on the most liberal scale, the Cup race being regarded as a real gift in every respect. Nomination? for all events, and Guinea payments, close with the secretary, Mr A. W. Trass, Ashhurst, at 9 p.m. on Monday. December 9th.
