MASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

■ ■♦ ORDINARY MEETING. The ordinary meeting of ths Masterton Borough Council was held, last evening, and was attended oy the Mayor (Mr J. M. Coradine), Crs J. H. Pauling, J. Elliott, F. W. Temple, A. Haughey, W. Morris, W. Fragnell, J. C. Ewington, J. Prentice and J. Yarr. An application from the Acclimatisation Society for an extra supply of water at the fish-ponds for cleaning purposes was referred to the Works Committee.

Mr A. P. Rawson, surveyor, attended and submitted an amended plan for a road through Yates' Estate, which is being sub-divided. The plan showed that it is now proposed to make one road through the estate instead of two as formerly, and cut the land up into half-acre sections instead of areas of a quarter acre each. The Works Committee and Or E.vington were authorised to deal with the plsms. It was decided to release Mr J. O'Dowd from his tender to lease 48 acres of the Waterworks Reserve. Before dealing with the further lett'ng of the land, the Council decided to visit the locality on Monday next and inspect the intakes at the same time.

Applications for the extension of the water mains to Devon Street and Lower Church Street were referred to the Works Committee to enquire into and report.
