NAVIGATION OF THE AIR. Received October 28, 8.52 a.m. - PARIS, October 27. M. Fcrmin's aeroplane flew 771 metres (about 843 yards) at Paris in 53 seconds, beating M. Santos Dumont's record of 220 metres (261 yards). EARTHQUAKE AT THURSDAY ISLAND. LIGHTHOUSE DAMAGED. Received October 29, 12.13 a.m. THURSDAY ISLAND, Oct. 28. A severe earthquake was experienced at 7 o'clock this morning. There were several minor shocks up till 8 o'clock. The lighthouse at Goode Island was considerably damaged.
