The following weights have been declared by Mr Morse for the Onehunga Steeplechase, which is to be run on the second day of the Auckland Racing Club's spring meeting.— Kiatere 13.4, Haydn 11.10, Irish and Inniskillen 10.6, Romany Lad 10.5, Loch Fyne 10,4, Cinque 10.3, Khama and Nor'-west 10.0, Lady Lanta, Rouseabout, Grey Dawn (late Bombay), Reporter, All Fours and Kapakapa 9.7. RICCARTON TRAINING NOTES. Only light work was done at Riccarton yesterday, preparatory to heavier tasks to-day. Elevation, looking bright and well, went two miles at half speed, but was anxious to improve the pace. Armistice and Helen Portland did two circuits at half-speed. Oxton and Dawn ran half a mile in 51 3-ssec and 51sec respectively. St. Jce an:l Martello were not extended over five furlongs, done in lmin GJscc. Zimmerman and Kairoma went a mile and a-quarter in 2min 20 2-ssec, Zimmerman showing best. Apa and Frisco did a mile, going at good speed. Fleetfoot was better than Discipline over half a mile. The latest arrivals include Astrakhan, Grafton Loch, Red Gauntlet and My Lawyer. / D. Price, the jockey, is returning from Australia, and will probably ride Apa in the New Zealand Cup. AUSTRALIAN RACING. By Telegraph—Press Association. Received October 25, 8.50 p.m. MELBOURNE. October 25. There is much gossip concerning the running of Apologue in the Caulfield Cup, the populafi idea being that the New Zealander should have won. J.t is now rumoured that the owner (Mr Cleland) will probably ask the Caulfield Club Committee to hold an enquiry into the matter. It Is also stated that it is possible that Clayton will ride Apologue in the Melbourne Cup, for which race both Tartan and Mountain King are hardening.
