SENSATION IN BERLIN.
SCANDAL IN HIGH LIFE. EXTRAORDINARY ALLEGATIONS OF IMMORALITY. A PRINCE AND COUNT ACCUSED. Received October 25, 10.22 p.m. BERLIN, October 25. An action for libel has been brought by General Count Kuno von Moltlce against Ilerr Harden, editor of the newspaper Zukunft, and is causing a tremendous sensation in Berlin. Extraordinary allegations have been made impugning the morality of Count Moltlce, Prince Philip Eulenberg, and other high Court officials whom' Herr Harden alro accused of forming a ring around the Kaiser for political purposes, and exercising a baneful influence by only allowing the Kaiser to hear what suited them. Count Moltke's divorced wife gave startling evidence. Herr Harden declared that he wrote solely in order to do the Empire a political service and destroy the ring. Counsel for the defence stated that Herr Harden did not accuse Count Moltlce of unnameable offences which the articles had been interpreted to suggest; "but," added counsel, "I say that plaintiff is the only member of the circle to whom the allegation does not apply. I have witnesses who can prove it." Herr Harden asked the court to 'hear the witnesses, in order to prove that plaintiff was aware of the conduct of his associates. It was decided to admit this evidence, but the general public were excluded from the court.
