CANADA AND JAPAN.
THE RECENT VANCOUVER RIOTS. A MESSAGE TO THE MIKADO. A CORDIAL REPLY. Received October 24, 9.40 p.m. OTTAWA, October 24. Sir Wilfrid Laurier, Premier, in a message asking the British Ambassador at Tokio to convey to the Mikado, of Japan Canada's sincere regret for the Vancouver disturbances and the assurance that the utmost efforts would be made to prevent a recurrence, mentioned the existence amongst the people of the Pacific Coast of strong racial prejud:'c3s, which he though!", was greatly to be regretted, and must be taken into consideration by all who desire to cultivate the best relations between Canada and the Orient. The Mikado has sent a cordial reply.
