CHURCH ROBBERIES IN FRANCE.

Received October 18, 9.8 a.m. LONDON, October 17. A French detective has taken possession of the Ambazac reliquary found in London. The statue, which is valued at £4,000, was found in Thomas' cellar at Clermont-Ferrand. It was concealed behind a cask labelled "rum." Thomas declares his willingness to confess everything. (A famous reliquary was stolen from a church at Ambazac, and traced to London, owing to Thomas' portfolio (containing a receipt) being found in the Seine The French Government demanded restitution of the reliquary. A Paris dealer in antiquaries confessed that he purchased many rare treasures from Thomas, who is ;i merchant of ClermontFerrand) .
