MASTERTON TECHNICAL SCHOOL.
SPECIAL MEETING OP MANAGERS. A special meeting of the Managers of the Masterton /Technical School was held, last evening, to deal with the matter of making formal application to the Government for a build • ing grant in aid of the proposed new Seddon Memorial Technical School, over and gbove the ordinary £ for £ subsidy on voluntary contributions, and the capital value of the lease of the site for the school. There were present—Messrs W. H. Jackson (clairman), J. Coradine, J. B. Keith, and E. H. Waddington. On the motion of Mr "Keith, it was resolved to make application for a grant of £2,000 over and above the £ for £ " subsidy on the amount of voluntary subscriptions, £1,200, and the capital value of the lease £I,OOO. It was resolved also to forward a letter with the application pointing out that a definite answer is required as to the amount of the Government vote, as it is imperative that the contract for the new building should be let early in November,* in order "that the building*may be available for the opening of next year's classes. The Chairman and the Secretary were appointed to draft the application and the accompanying letter.
