\ RAILWAY STATION STRUCK BY L.IGHTNING. By Telegraph—Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH,Oct. 11. Bad weather continues with little sign of clearing. The growth of grass is very backward. An electrical storm, this afternoon, was responsible for considerable damage. Lightning struck and knocked the front out of the Waiongona railway station, and shattered a number of poles, breaking and fusing the wires. In consequence the railway and telegraph system is interrupted, and trains are held up owing to the consequent breakdown of the tablet system.
By Telegraph— Press Association. PALMERSTON N., Oct. 11. The weather has keen frightful during the past few days. To-day a gale of wind raged continuously, and made things very unpleasant. A considerable amount of damage was done in' various parts of the town. Many hoardings were blown down and limbs of trees blown off. In one instance a hoarding, while falling, struck a young lady who was passing, knocking her down. She was taken to a hotel near by and attended to. Fortunately, her injuries were not severe. Glass windows in the Clarendon Hotel and Railway Hotel were smashed by the force of the wind., and more damage of a similar nature was done.
