MASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
PARK AND LIBRARY COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Borough Park and Library Committee was held, last evening, when there were present—Crs J. C. Ewington (chairman), J. Elliott, W. Morris and J. Prentice. The Committee recommended that the scale of lending fees for the Library, fixed by the Council on July 12th last, should come into operation this month. Acting on a resolution of the Council of August last as to the existing contract for the supply of English magazines and periodicals, it was recommended that the present contract be terminated from December 31st, and that tenders be invited for an amended list, for an indefinite period, but subject to termination on three months' notice. The Librarian's report for August and September was submitted, and received. An application was received from the Masterton Cricket Council for the use of the Park Oval for the ensuing season, and it was decided to grant the application at a fee of £l2 10s subject to the same terms and conditions as last year. The Committee recommended that tenders be called for painting the Park kiosk, the front gates leading in to the Park, and the lampstand over the gates. The Acting Town Clerk was instructed to write to Mr A. W. Hogg, M.H.R., in reference to the scenic reserve, mentioning the Council's former actions in the matter and ask • ing him to look into the matter and forward to the Council any recommendations he may have to make. Accounts amounting to £l6 10s 3d were passed for payment. .„
