AUSTRALIA AND A NAVY. Received October 10, 10 a.m. MELBOURNE, October 10. In the House of Representatives. in connection with Mr Ramsay Macdonald's speech, the Treasurer was asked if it was part of the policy of the Government to build a navy, and did they contemplate a fight with Japan. The Treasurer replied that the question was stupid. The Navy would always be ready against the enemies of Australia, but he hoped they would make no enemies.

A DISPUTED ELECTION. Received October 10, 10 a.m. MELBOURNE, October 10. The Disputed Returns Committee has recommended *:hat the election of Senator O'Loghlm by the South Australian Parliament was wrong, and that he is not entitled to hold the seat.
