WANGAEHU ROAD METALLING LOAN.

Messrs F. Maur.sell,. S. Mawley and J. H. Taplin waited on the Masterton County Council, yesterday, with reference to the action of thea sub-committee of the Council in striking out Mr D. McKei zL?a property from the special area to be rated for the Wangaehu Road metalling loan. As it was proposed to expend four times the amount of Mr McKenzie's capitalised rates along the front of his property, the deputation thought that his property should not be left out of tt e rating area. The metalling of road was being ione in sections. It was not the amount involved, but the principle that the deputation objected to. The report of the sub-committee stated that the reason for leaving Mr McKenzie's property out of the area was because he had derived no benefit from two previous loans for which he had been rated. Cr Welch, Chairman of the committee, stated that all sides of the question had been considered by the committee, and it was thought only fair to Mr McKenzie that his property should be omitted from the area. After further discussion it was decided not to adopt the report of the sub-committee, and to add Mr McKenzie's property to the rating area.
