Rain in the early part of the day somewhat marred the effect of the Eight-hours' Day procession. Colonel Stanley, the Australian representative of the Armstrong, Whitworth Company, has selected a site, subject to the approval of the Company, at Altona Bay, where they propose to establish shipbuilding works. Colonel Stanley states that the Company are desirous of becoming the pioneers of the industry in Australia, and intend to send out a staff of superintendents and expert workmen who will train operatives here. Colonel Stanley interviewed the Federal Minister of Defence on the question of building torpedoera and destroyers for the Commonwealth. FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. WHEN LABOUR'S TIME COMES. Sir William Lyne, Federal Treasurer, speaking at the Eight-hour banquet declared that people would find when the time came for a Labour Government to take the reins of power there would be no need to fear for the future of the country.
