WHAT CONSTITUTES "THE PEOPLE?"
(By Telegraph—Parliamentary Correspondent.) WELLINGTON Thursday. Mr Reid had a singular question *.o' ask the Premier in the House of Representatives yesterday. He want--2d to know whether in view of the Joubt as to what wa3 meant by the :erm "the people," so constantly used in Parliamentary debates, hy would: imend the Interpretation Act, 188S, )y adding a clause giving a defini;ion of the words and stating mere ispecially what amount of property a )erson may own without being ex--iluded from that class. The Premier said he was not aware»f any inconvenience having arisen, >ut he would have the matter careully looked into. Members smiled!
