AN OLD CRIME. SENSATIONAL SEQUEL
Received September 30, 10.10 a.m. BRISBANE, September 30. A sensational sequel to an old crime is reported. In 1894 a woolshed at Cunnamulla, in the County of Wellington, Queensland, and situated on the bank of the Warrego River, was destroyed by fire. Incendiarism was suspected, but the guilty person was not detected. Now comes news that a man has been arrested at Glen Innes, a town in New South Wales. Not only has he confessed to having committed the crime, but has also volunteered the ghastly information that in order to escape detection he murdered a man who was wanted as a witness in connection with the burning of the shed, and who mysteriously disappeared. A CASE OF PLAGUE. Received September 30, 10.10 a.m. BRISBANE, September 30. A wharf labourer at Cairns has been attacked by plague.
