FIRE ON THE TE ANAU.
By Association. WESTPORT, September 30. Fire was discovered in the afterhold of the Te Anau when she was lying in Westport roadstead on Saturday morning. The hold was full of smoke, but water was poured in and the outbreak subdued. Some cases were charred and considerable damage was done to Westport and Greymouth cargo by water. The fire is supposed to have originated in lime shipped at Dunedin. The consignees here are taking delivery of the goods under a general average found pending the estimate of the actual damage.
