ALLEGED ATTEMPTED ARSON.

IBy Telegraph—Press Association. DUNEDIN, September 26. the Police Court, yesterday, a \young man named Ernest Edward vCuthbertson Maxey was charged with iiaving attempted to set fire to a shop ,at K&ikorai Valley. The evidence showed that on the 12th inst. a fire .broke out in a room at the back of the shop, a sofa and chair being in .flames. On the 11th inst. a fire broke cut in the shop amongst some paper Jsags. Both fires were suppressed before much damage was done. On the occasion of the second fire .accused was said to have been drunk. Accused was committed for trial.
