STOCK MARKET.

W. ROSE. Mr W. Rose reporfa as follows During the past fortnight I have held the following sales: — Monday, September 9th, Mr P. Olsen's during sale, Makotuku. —

The dairy herd, though rather poor in condition, were all sold under the hammer at an average of about £4 per head, heifers £3 10s, vveaners 15s.

Tuesday, September 10th, Mr J. Currie's clearing sale, Woodville — This sale was well attended and competition for the dairy herd was very keen. Thirty-two co<vs averaged just about £5 per head, heifers £4 per head, horses, farm implements, pigs and poultry all found ready purchasers at a fair value.

Thursday, September 12th, Mr J. Honore's clearing sale, Ormondville. —Owing no doubt to the wet day, this sale was not well attended, consequently the cows, young stock, and horses were all sold at prices very .much in favour of buyers.

Saturday, Sept. 14th, Dannevirke horse sale.—On account of the annual horse parade and fair takingplace next Saturday, the 28th, there was only a moderate entry, consisting chiefly of spring carters and hacks; the majority changed hands at prices ranging about the same as the previous sale.

Monday, September 16th, Norsewood stock sale.—A fair entry came forward, composed principally of idairy stock. Dairy cows sold up to £4, old cows 35s to £2, heifers at the drop £3 2s 6d, fat and forward cows £4 to £5, weaner pigs 12s 6d. Friday, September 20th, Dannevirke stock sale.—No sheep came to hand. There was a fair entry of cattle, and a heavy yarding of pigs. Competition was brisk for steers, and I quote the following prices: 2J to 3 year old steers £3 18s 6d to £4 3s 6d, yearling steers £2 ss, yearlings (mixed sexes) 355, fat cows £7, springing cows £5 ss, empty heifers £2 2s to £2 15s, springing heifers £3 10s to £4 10s. Pigs, weaners 8s to 14s, porkers 20s.
