SERIOUS EXPLOSION.

A YOUTH INJURED

By Telegraph—Press Association

GREYMOUTH, September 18. A serious explosion occurred at Cobden, last evening, when a young man, named Hayes, 16 years of age, was badly injured. It appears he was fixing an acetylene generator for Mr Taylor, who was standing watching when it exploded. The shed was blown to pieces, and Hayes was found amongst the debris unconscious and bleeding profusely. Taylor had a miraculous escape, sustaining only slight injuries. Hayes sustained a deep wound on the forehead, and his left eye was blown out. A little finger on the left hand is off, and the fingers on the right hand are shattered. The patient is very low, and is suffering from shock.
