THE NEW TARIFF.
By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, September 17. At the annual meeting of the Wellington Industrial Association, held to-night, Mr J. P. Luke, speaking to the motion for the adoption of the report, expressed appreciation of the Government's action regarding the new tariff. He believed that, the tariff was not altogether in keeping with the desires of some of the members of the Association, as it did not go as far as they desired, but he considered that the new tariff would considerably improve the position of the colony's industries.
