CANTERBURY LAMB.
(From Our London Correspondent.)
LONDON, August 2. As indicating the very general use of Canterbury lamb in this country, and its popularity, writes Messrs W. Weddel and Co., we may mention, that it is regularly served to the members of the House of Commons, which has been described as "the best club in Europe." A private member interested in Home agriculture a few days ago raised the question in the House whether the Kitchen Committee would not consider the propriety of substituting Welsh mutton for Canterbury lamb. Sir J. Jacoby, Chairman, replied that the Committee were "not prepared to substitute Welsh mutton foxCanterbury lamb"; but that they would be pleased to supply the House with Welsh mutton from October to March (i.e. when Canterbury lamb is not usually obtainable).
