ACCIDENT TO A TRAIN.

NEW PLYMOUTH, September 12. The mid-day train from Patea to New Plymouth met with an accident at Psiriroa Pa. The train struck a bullock, which ha-] wandered on the line, with the result that the cowcatcher buckled and caught in the sleepers, throwing the engine off the line, and down an embankment. The driver was thrown out. and narrowly escaped being crushed under the engine. A truck containing cattle, which was next to the engine, turned "turtle," but the doors burst open and allowed the animals to escape. The next three trucks wee derailed, but the carriages remained on the line. It is expected that through communication will be restored within 24 hours. It will probably take two clays to replace the eigir.e on the line.
