STOCK MARKET.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report sales as follow—Clearing sale of dairy stock , etc., on Monday, on account of Mrs E. Stratford. All dairy cows coming to profit sold readily, those not showing forward dragging. The dairy cows averaged <£4 15s, springing heifers - 755, forward cows 80s, hack horses, tools, and sundries at fair rates. At Pal.iatua, on Tuesday, the only sheep penned were hoggets, which were in good demand, making advanced prices. In cattle the entries were mostly of the dairy class, r.o grown steers offering. All nice quality heifers and young cattle found a ready market. At Masterton, on Wednesday, the yarding was small being mostly hoggets with a few pens of mutton in wethers and ewes. All these classes were marketable, and a clearance was made at sound rates. Fat wethers, good, made 24s 9d; fat ewes, good, 19s; hoggets were medium and poor, making 13s 4d and 12s 4d and lis respectively. In cattle the pens were occupied mostly by dairy stock, and a few lots of young cattle, all selling. Best heifers to 60s, others 35s to 42s 6d, cows 355, good weaners 245, good class weaner pigs 14s to 15s. i Messrs Dalgety and C 0.,, Ltd., report as follows —We held our fortnightly sale at the Masterton yards yesterday. There was a very limited yarding of both sheep and cattle, the entry of sheep being confined to hoggets. Otfing to the unsettled state of the weather two or three lines of ewes and lambs did not come forward. We quote: —Small hoggets lis 6d to 12s, 2-year steers JE3 10s, 18-month steers £2, pigs (slips) 14s, springing heifers £3 10s.
