NAVIGATION OF THE AIR.

Received September 11, 10.24 p.m. LONDON, September 11. Colonel Templer's airship made a successful preliminary ascent at Farmborough Common. The airship, which circled in the air, was under perfect control, but prematurely descended, owing to an accident to the driving belt. Colonel Capper, Superintendent of the Balloon Section of the Royal Engineers, expressed the greatest satisfaction at the manner the balloon answered the rudder with and against the wind. A second thoroughly successful ascent was made later with three occupants.
