MASTERTON COUNTY COUNCIL.
FINANCE COMMITTEE. Xhe Finance Committee of the MaMkton County Council met yestfwSalfcorning, there being present: J. Welch (chairman), C. E. Cockburn-Hood, W. Harris, J. Morris, H. Toogood, and A. Murray. The Treasurer reported as follows: —Bank General Fund Account, dr., .£3,484 15d 3d; Lucal Bodies Loans Account, cr., £346 2s lOd; Accounts, dr. balance, £3,572 7s 2d; receipts for the month, £538 8s lOd. Accounts amounting to £692 13s 3dwere passed for payment. The Clerk was instructed to make application to the Land Board for £lO of thirds from section 222, to be handed over to the Akitio County Council for expenditure in the manner indicated by Mr A. K. Hansen. The Committee resolved "that the Wainuioru Riding be permitted to anticipate next year's revenue to tne extent of £l5O for metal repairs to the Blairlogie-East Coast Roai" COUNCIL MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Council j was held yesterday afternoon. There toere present:—Crs C. E. CockburnHood (chairman), W. J. Welch, W. Harris, J. Morris, R. F. Beetham, A. Murray, C. C. Kebhell, J. ColquJboun, and H. Toogood. ■ Mr E. Wadham wrote asking that the holes in about seventy chains of the Fernridge Roau may be filled up, and offering to do the work for £7 10s. The, matter was left to the Engineer and* the representative for the riding to deal with. A letter was received from Morris Bros, asking the Council to have the Puketoi Road repaired at once. Cr Murray and the Engineer were authorised to deal with the question. Mr Walter Perry wrote asking whether the Council was favourable to the proposed closing of the road in the Ngaumatawa Block, and widening the Ngaumatawa Road. The Clerk, in explaining the position of the road, said it gave access to Mr Jepson's property. Mr Jepson would oppose the closing of the road if other means of access were not provided by Mr Perry. Crs Welch, Morris and Harris were appointed a Committee to consider the with power to act. Mrs W. L. Dorset, Mauriceville, wrote protesting against the proposal to lower the bed of "Tuck's" culvert, end threatening proceedings if the work was cairied out, as it would cause injury to her property. The letter was received. Mjgeorge Lett wrote offering £3 for ■* ase of the gravel reserve at Taueru. The application was granted under certain conditions. On the motion of the Chairman, the whole Council was appointed a Committee to consider the question of Messrs McMullen Bros, contract on the Weraiti-Fernyhurst Road.
