A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
By Telegraph—Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, September 10. Mr A. A. Pikett, a New Plymouth Borough Councillor, was seriously injured this morning at the Council's stone-crushing plant at Waiwaikaiho. Some defect occurred in the woiking of the plant and Mr Pikett was assisting to remedy it. While kneelin i down attempting to fix a chain on a pulley he slipped, and his face struck the fly wheel. The latter had been broken and strapped together with iron straps. These straps struck his face, rendering him unconscious, in which condition he fell across the chain. The other men immediately rushed to his assistance, and stopped the machinery, but not until the fly wheel had nale several revolutions, aggravating the already serious injuries received by Mr Pikett, who has been removed to the Hospital. LATER. Mr Pikett died in the hospital.
