THE FACTORIES ACT.

NEW PLYMOUTH, September 5. A well-attended meeting of the Employers' Association, to-night, considered the proposed amendment i of the Factories Act, and cat-ried a resolution strongly urging the Minister of Labour to amend clause 9, subsection 2, of the Factories Act Amendment Bill, so that it may be optional on any borough outside the chief centres where factories nnd shops are combined to observe tb.3 half-holiday under the Shops Act in lieu of Saturday. It was also decided to heartily support the New Zea'and Employers' Federation in their effort to secure this important privilege. A petition covering the above resolutions is to be circulated.
