An impetus has been given to the pearling industry by the discovery of considerable areas of shell in the vicinity of the Goulburn Islands. HARDSHIPS OF SHIPWRECKED BOYS. * Received September 3, 9.30 a.m. BRISBANE, September 3. Seven black boys, missing members of the crew of the ketch Day Dawn, wrecked on August 2nd, have arrived at St. Lawrence. They ex perienced great hardships.
ALLEGED THEFT AND WIFE DESERTION.
Received September 3, 11.37 p.m. SYDNEY, September 3. A railway employee, named Walker, of Auckland, was charged at the Police Court, to-day, with theft and wife desertion, and remanded to Auckland.
