The Wairarapa Thursday Union's representatives will play th? Bush Seniors at Eketahuna on Thursday next. The junior teams of both Unions will meet at Featherston. The Wanganui representative team •defeated Manawatu, at Wanganui, on Saturday, by 66 points to nil. The Manawatu team was practically a scratch one, and as the score indicates, the game was very one-sided. Tries were scored for the winners by Suiter (4), Absolum (4), Daj&r (2), , Mitchell (2), Abbot (2). Guscott, Southcombe and Anderson, six of which were converted by Southcombe. Southcombe also kicked a, penalty goal. On Saturday last, writes our correspondent, Kopuaranga defeated Mauriceville by 18 points to 3. Heavy ra ; n fell during the match. The winners were superior in all departments of the game. . Some talk has been occasioned in Rugby circles in Auckland'by the report that the absence of three of the "All Blacks" and a leading back from the representative touring team now in the 1 South was due to the refusal of the Rugby Union to meet their demands for monetary assistance, states the Auckland correspondent of the New Zealand Times. The "All Black" representatives are alleged to have demanded £5 each for ; the trip, but the Union, after giving them half an hour to think over the matter, point blank refused to fall in line with their requests. It will be interesting to watch the attitude that will be adopted by the Auckland and New Zealand Rugby Unions in bringing the men to book for contravening the regulations. There is no reason to xsuppose that the report in circulation has been coloured in any way and that being so the New Zealand Union would be justified in getting an Explanation from the Northern Union as to what were the true circumstances which led to the three "All Blacks" refusing to iender aid to the Blue and White touring Rugby brigade. Svdney papers contain flattering reference to ~ the form- shown by Wrigley for the "All Golds" in the matches against New South Wales. The following team will represent the Bush Union against the Wairarapa Thursday Seniors, at Eketahuna, on Thursday next:—Full-back, E. Main; three-quarters, Thompson, J. Dungan, Connor; five-eighth, P. Quinlan; half, Bottomley; forwards, Cowan, G. Smith, Swains m, S. Smith, Johnson, Henry, Trengrove, Robinson and A. Hirst. Emergencies —Forwards,' Manahera and J. Quirlan; backs, R. Foss and Popplewell. Mr Victor Trumper, the wellknown Australian cricketer, is one of the movers in connection with professional football in Australia.
