STABILITY OF INVERCARGILL

The stabiilty of the borough was evidenced by the confidence shown by the public in regard to 131 £IOO debentures offered for the borough consolidation loan, tenders for which were opened last night. There were eighteen tenders, amounting to £29,500. The tenders accepted were £2,000 at 5 per cent, premium, £2.000 at £2 16s, £2,500 at £1 10s, '£4oo at £1 5s 3d, and £7,200 at £1 ss. The last tender was rendered for the whole amount. The total premiums amounted to £259 Is. The debentures bear interest at 4 J per cent, with 28 years' currency. •
