BAND CONTEST.
By Telegraph—Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, August 30. A well-attended public meeting was held in connection with the North Island Brassjßand Association Contest, to be held in New Plymouth in February or March next. The Mayor presided. Mr Jas. Clarke was elected secretary, and an executive was appointed. The committee reported that the result of the canvass for guarantees was highly satisfactory. At an executive meeting, held subsequently, it was decided to communicate with the Association asking if there was a probability of any of the Australian bands competing.
