Bishop Neligan placed before a publicTiieeting a scheme r for adding to St. John's College a wing to accommodate thirty men, to be known as the Patterson wing, at a cost of £4,000. He explained that it was part of a scheme to provide accommodation eventually for 100 men, involving an expenditure of £30,000 to £50,000. In all probability within fifty or eighty years there would be a University of Auckland as well as a University of New Zealand. The meeting appointed a committee to consider steps to raise £4,000 to undertake the Patterson wing.
